We often talk about “proving until doubled in size.” But how do you know when that happens? Well, it's incredibly difficult, to be honest, unless you have a good measuring tool like this one. In our book, we describe how to use a rain gauge like this by placing a piece of dough in the tube and simply watching it rise. Since there are clear markings, you know exactly when the dough has doubled in size.
This is, without a doubt, one of our must-have tools, which we've used since day one and will never abandon. Something great about these particular rain gauges is that they are manufactured by Nyby in none other than the plastic paradise of Småland, Sweden, instead of China. This was, of course, something we felt we needed to promote.
