Collection: Tomatoes
Tomatoes are something we often don't take very seriously in Sweden, but in Naples, it's no laughing matter. Just as we discuss the texture, taste, and uses of different potato varieties, there's a world of completely different tomatoes with distinct characteristics.
Here in the shop's tomato section, we've gathered the most important tomatoes for both pizza making and other culinary uses. We have specifically chosen to sell the best, as there's no point in selling the same things you find in your local grocery store – not that we would, though; our products are undoubtedly better :)
As many probably know, the San Marzano tomato is the king of tomatoes, and it's often the choice for truly good Neapolitan Pizza. In addition to its fantastic taste, San Marzano tomatoes have the perfect consistency for pizza.
The tomato is a bit more watery with softer flesh, and the color is lighter than regular Mutti tomatoes. This is perfect for, for example, a Margherita, which you want to be a bit deliciously sloppy and not dry and boring. More about San Marzano tomatoes can be found in our little San Marzano guide.
In addition to our selection of San Marzano tomatoes, we sell several other carefully selected tomatoes. They are exclusively the best of the best – to die for – and definitely deserve to be tried. The exact tomatoes offered vary depending on the quality of the latest harvest, but Gustarosso products are always available with us because their products are consistently outstanding and made with 100% love.
